Now springing from the fertile Mother of all living things,

the Earth,

Comes joy-of –growth, as power leading all her children unto birth.

My life is charmed, my strength is sure,

For I am armed – my heart is pure;

And I can join amidst this joy and merriment with radiant mirth!

但我記得冬天的聖善夜，

是如何地在黑暗中閃耀著午夜的太陽，

這是世界真正的光，

無需懼怕野蠻的龍

因為我是被聖子引領着。

My light is pressed by darkness round;

It is not easy to stay upright, strong and sound!

The Dragon, lurking, would devour

My shining radiance with his power.

 

But I, remember how on winter’s Holy Night,

In darkness shone the Midnight Sun that is the world’s true Light,

Need have no fear of dragons wild

For I am led by the Holy Child.

我的堅定和力量給我ㄧ個確定的實地，

因為聖子的光是溫柔而純淨的

當我能用我的眼以祂的愛來看這世界

所有的事物就能夠沐浴在他治癒的，金黃的光之中。

 

看著地精靈弄裂和打碎土壤裡的東西，

而明亮輕快的空氣精靈帶來了一個綠色世界的誕生。

 

懷著極大的喜悅，我學習著去給他們所需要的，

而我為他們帶來光，他們真的很感謝！

My firmness and strength gives me ground that is sure,

For the light of the Child is gentle and pure.

All things become bathed with his healing, gold light

When I look at the world with his love in my sight.

 

Watch the gnomes split and crumble the stuff of the earth, 

While the light, airy sylphs bring a green world to birth.

 

With great joy I am learning to give what they need,

For I bring them the light, and they’re grateful indeed!

現在仍是寒靜的冬季，但是從死亡之中—新的誕生！

這是生命的定律，而我現在應該好好的看

春天快要來到地球上的跡象，

她準備著，很快地  她的力量將擴大膨脹：

 

新的綠芽在每一棵樹上發芽

鳥兒的吟唱中有新的音調... 許多的變化蹤跡我也看到了

但在這一切的變化之中，我必須是純正的;

在我所做所為中堅強而有力。

It’s wintry still, but out of death- new birth!

This is life’s law, and now I should look well

For signs that spring will come onto the earth,

For she prepares, and soon her power will swell:

 

New shoots sprout green on every tree.

A new note in the birdsong…and more clues as well I see…

But midst this change, I must be true;

Be firm and strong in all I do.

在面對未知的未來，我們只記得那些啃噬著我們靈魂的恐懼和焦慮，在這種情況下，有什麼能讓靈魂感到安全呢？答案是肯定的。

這是一種我們所說的謙卑的感受，朝向出自於面對未來可能降臨到靈魂未知的任何黑暗。但這種謙卑的感受只有在具備祈禱的特質才能發揮作用。

讓我們避免誤解，我們並非在頌揚某種意義上的謙卑；我們描述的是謙卑的一種具體形式──對於未知的未來可能帶來的任何事物的謙卑。任何以焦慮恐懼來展望未來的人都會障礙自身的發展，阻礙靈魂力量的自由展現。的確，沒有什麼比以恐懼和焦慮面對未知的未來更能障礙這種發展。但順應臣服未來的結果，只能透過經驗來評斷這種謙卑究竟意味著什麼？

理想情況下，這意味著對自己說：無論下一刻或下一天會發生什麼，我都無法用恐懼或焦慮去改變它，因為一切尚未可知。因此，我將以全然的內在平靜和安寧來等待，任何人若能夠以這種平靜丶放鬆的方式來面對未來，而不削弱損害自身的活力和能量，就能自由而深刻地發展自身靈魂的力量，當靈魂對即將到來的事件，越來越能被謙虛的感受滲透，一個接著一個的阻礙彷彿便隨之消散。

［Submitting to whatever the future may bring ］

We need only to remember the feelings of fear and anxiety that gnaw at our soul-life in face of the unknown future. Is there anything that can give the soul a sense of security in this situation? Yes, there is. It is what we may call a feeling of humbleness towards anything that may come towards the soul out of the darkness of the future. But this feeling will be effective only if it has the character of prayer. Let us avoid misunderstanding. We are not extolling something that might be called humbleness in one sense or another; we are describing a definite form of it — humbleness to whatever the future may bring. Anyone who looks anxiously and fearfully towards the future hinders his development, hampers the free unfolding of his soul-forces. Nothing, indeed, obstructs this development more than fear and anxiety in face of the unknown future. But the results of submitting to the future can be judged only by experience. What does this humbleness mean?

Ideally, it would mean saying to oneself: Whatever the next hour or day may bring, I cannot change it by fear or anxiety, for it is not yet known. I will therefore wait for it with complete inward restfulness, perfect tranquillity of mind. Anyone who can meet the future in this calm, relaxed way, without impairing his active strength and energy, will be able to develop the powers of his soul freely and intensively. It is as if hindrance after hindrance falls away, as the soul comes to be more and more pervaded by this feeling of humbleness toward approaching events.

Through forces of heart, the power to be.

Makes real and full of substance all the things I see.  

 

There flames in me, against all ice and frost, all rain and sleet, 

The leaping, dancing fire-forces of my heart to give me 

light and heat.

當冬天包裹著黑暗和淒涼的披風

圍繞在我溫暖的家外

我被呼喚站起去克服恐懼

勇敢的去迎接在我路途上的黑暗。

 

我的光每天越來越亮。

這光明溫暖，也告訴了我生命的變動搖擺。

而光，從我的心流瀉出永不會﹣停止。

所以，無論是悲傷，痛苦或衝突的到來，

我會是堅強的。

When winter wraps a mantle dark and drear

Around the world beyond my own warm hearth,

Then am I called to rise and conquer fear

And bravely meet this darkness in my path.

 

My light each day in brightness is increasing.

Its glow of warmth reveals the stir of life.

The light –stream of my heart is never –ceasing.

And so I’m strong, come grief or pain or strife.
